English Springer Spaniels - Finding a Puppy
Responsible breeders of English Springer Spaniels strive to achieve the highest quality possible in every one of the breeding they make. They try to maintain the best breeds' characteristics including beautiful appearance, temperament, trainability and excellence in hunting for field. Responsible breeders use only sound dogs of stable temperament for breeding. Dogs with genetic problems are not bred.
True breeders do their best to match each puppy's personality with a buyer, his family and his household conditions. A veterinarian should carefully examine each puppy for general health and eye diseases typical of the breed.
Reputable breeders have profound knowledge on the English Springer's health, temperament, background and upkeep, as well as know all the aspects of each of their dogs. Ethical breeders are willing to educate prospective owners of their dogs. This education does not tend to stop when the pup has been sold. It is a breeder's responsibility to keep track of the English Springer Spaniels that he produces.
