English Springer Spaniels - General Description
English Springer Spaniels belong to the sporting group of dogs. Their appearance unmistakably indicates a member of the Spaniel family. The Spaniel's common features are pendulous ears, sturdy built and gentle expression. They are intelligent and obedient, playful, energetic and quick to learn. These dogs are affectionate, good natured and sincere.

English Springer Spaniels are medium-sized, with a moderately long coat. They have a compact body and a docked tail. The neck is moderately long for the body. The top line slopes gradually from withers to tail head. The chest is deep. The tail is constantly wagging. The head is slightly rounded. The medium-sized eyes are set wide apart.
The medium-length outer coat is flat and wavy and the undercoat is short, soft and dense. Coat colors may be liver or black with white markings, liver, blue roan or black and white with tan markings. English Springer Spaniels should have glossy coats.
Height: 19-20 inches
Weight: 49-55 pounds
Life Span: English Springer Spaniels live up to 10-15 years.

Springers need patient guidance through what is called their "teenage" time.Some Springers are high-energy. They need a soft, but firm hand so that they always know who is in control.
They can get into trouble if left alone for too long. They love water and may constantly get themselves wet and muddy.
Usually they are good with other pets with the possible exception of birds.
English Springer Spaniels are sometimes argumentative with same sex dogs.This breed can be destructive and bark a lot if left alone.
